Hair that is very fine, highly curly or markedly different in colour may need a more considered design to achieve an integrated appearance.

The donor area must be protected as part of the overall treatment plan. A responsible approach does not chase maximum density at the expense of donor reserves or future hair restoration needs. This is especially relevant for patients who have, or may later develop, scalp hair thinning.

DHI-FUE techniques allow follicular units to be extracted individually, avoiding a linear donor scar. Small extraction sites heal over time, although every surgical procedure carries a degree of healing response and individual results vary. The priority is precise harvesting, careful graft handling and thoughtful distribution of the donor area.

Density is planned, not guessed

A beard can look full without being packed at the same density as scalp hair. Perceived density is influenced by hair colour, thickness, curl, contrast with skin tone, length of grooming and the position of the grafts. Strategic density in the chin, jawline and central cheeks may create a stronger impression of fullness than placing grafts evenly across every area.

This is why a staged approach can sometimes be appropriate. The first procedure establishes shape, coverage and a natural framework. Once the transplanted hair has grown and matured, a patient may decide whether further density is worthwhile. This approach can be particularly sensible when donor availability is limited or when a conservative, natural enhancement is preferred.

What happens on the day of treatment

The treatment duration varies with graft numbers and the complexity of the design. Growth takes patience
